AUDIOWELL Underwater Ultrasonic Sensor debut at AWE !

At the recently concluded AWE, AUDIOWELL brought the technologically advanced Underwater Ultrasonic Sensor to demonstrate the powerful range-measuring and obstacle-avoidance function of the intelligent upgrade of the pool robot.

Underwater Ultrasonic Sensor 

Underwater Ultrasonic Sensor is based on the principle of underwater sonar technology, using the characteristics of sound wave propagation and reflection in the water, through the positive and negative piezoelectric effect and information processing for navigation and ranging technology. The product emits ultrasonic waves due to the inverse piezoelectric effect, which are received by the sensor after reflecting back from the obstacles it encounters when propagating in the water, and the built-in circuitry digitally converts the received signals and calculates the distance to the obstacles through the MCU according to the TOF principle.

AUDIOWELL Underwater Ultrasonic Sensor can emit 1 MHz ultrasonic waves, measuring distance up to 8 meters away, to meet the swimming pool robot underwater operation of the cruise needs of obstacle avoidance, and can assist in the restoration of the full picture of the swimming pool underwater, to help robots intelligent upgrading.

"See further": detection distance up to 8m, perception-assisted map planning

An Underwater Ultrasonic Sensor detects environmental conditions within a range of 8 meters and senses pool boundaries through echoes to navigate the pool cleaning robot. The sensor is fitted around the robot's enclosure to obtain the relative distances between the walls of the pool and itself, and based on this sensory data, its relative position and orientation in the pool can be determined to determine the robot's location and plan the optimal cleaning path.

"See more clearly": measuring blind spot as small as 6cm, effectively preventing brutal collisions

AUDIOWELL Underwater Ultrasonic Sensor measurement blind zone as small as 6cm, can accurately detect the near, pool walls, steps and obstacles, for the equipment to establish along the edge of the sweeping function to provide the basis for environmental awareness, while with digital communication function of the sensor can be faster to assist the equipment in advance of the deceleration, to prevent the brutal collision, so as to avoid the damage to the swimming pool due to the collision of a long period of time.

Safer: IP68 rated waterproof for outdoor and indoor pools

The waterproof density of the product is as high as IP68 level, can work continuously for 168 hours underwater for 3 meters without failures; wide range of operating temperature, can operate for a long time in water from 0.1 (no icing) to 45℃, suitable for outdoor, indoor and other different environments such as the use of swimming pools.

Tips: Sonar technology is currently the most effective means of detection in the water.

Compared with the detection effectiveness of electromagnetic waves such as light, sonar technology is currently the most effective technical means of detection in the water, the main factors are two: sound waves in the water propagation of the direction of the stronger, weaker attenuation.

More Direction

In the water, sound waves can be considered along the straight line propagation, direction is quite strong; but the light (belonging to the electromagnetic wave) by the water medium characteristics of the impact, resulting in greater refraction, scattering and other phenomena, so that the object from the visual detection of the effect of deformation or displacement, so the ultrasonic as the core of the sonar technology in the detection of the water for positioning, ranging and so on the effect is better.

Weaker attenuation

Unlike electromagnetic waves, such as light, which decay more quickly in liquids than in air, sound waves travel faster, decay less, and travel farther in water. Sound travels about four times faster in water than in air, about 1500 meters per second. Since 1827, scientists measured the speed of sound in water for the first time quite accurately, human exploration and application of sonar technology has been nearly two hundred years, the technology has been quite mature in the water detection applications.
