On 24 July, China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF) jointly issued a circular on ‘Several Measures on Increasing Support for Large-Scale Equipment Renewal and Consumer Goods Trade-in’, which focuses on mentioning the support for the scrapping and renewal of old operating trucks, the support for the scrapping of diesel trucks of the National III and below emission standards for the operating category, and accelerating the renewal of trucks to low-emission trucks, as well as the subsidy for the scrapping and renewal of the purchase of the compliant ones to the tune of an average of 3~8 The subsidy for the scrapping and renewal of vehicles that meet the requirements ranges from 3 to 8 million yuan per vehicle on average.

Emission Standards and the State of the Commercial Vehicle Market

Since 1 July 2023, the country has officially implemented the more stringent National VI emission standard stage 6b, which prohibits the production, import and sale of vehicles that do not meet the standard.

Despite the emergence of new energy technologies, diesel engines still dominate the commercial vehicle market with their advantages of low risk, quick replenishment and support for long-distance transport.2024 From January to June, 2,138,800 multi-cylinder diesel engines were sold, of which 1,048,300 multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles were sold, a year-on-year increase of 4.26%.

The ‘National 6b’ standard further reduces the emission limits for previous pollutants, which makes the exhaust gas treatment system of diesel engines, especially the SCR system for reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions from the exhaust gas, even more critical.

According to OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) regulations, SCR systems must enable online monitoring of insufficient urea solution carryover and dilution or replacement of the urea solution with another solution. Therefore, a high-quality quality sensor in the SCR system ensures the purity and quality of the exhaust gas treatment solution and avoids damage to the catalyst. Currently, ultrasonic measurement is the dominant technological solution on the market for detecting urea quality.

AdBlue Quality Sensor

AdBlue Quality Sensors for urea detection in SCR systems use the difference in propagation speed of ultrasonic waves in different media and liquids of different concentrations for urea identification and detection of urea quality. The sensor sends out ultrasonic waves and receives the echo signal, and by calculating the round trip time of the ultrasonic waves at a fixed distance in the liquid, and comparing the time difference, it can learn the value of the difference in the concentration of the liquid, so as to judge whether it is a compliant urea or not.

Lane Departure Warning(LDW)

The camera monitors the lane line, and according to the body parameters of the whole vehicle, its built-in ECU calculates, when the wheels (without directional lights) step on the pressure of the lane line, at the same time, the radar detects the distance between the near obstacle and the vehicle, sends out an alarm signal, performs sound and light alarms to remind the driver to go back to the right direction, and reduces the number of accidents occurring in the car due to lane deviation.
