Audiowell Creates "Eye" of Intelligent Travel to Protect Safety of Operating Trucks

The past month or so has been quite a leap forward for domestic road safety to a certain extent. 1 September 2020, the relevant departments of the National Road Traffic Supervision Department fully implemented the "Technical Safety Conditions for Operating Goods Vehicles", which requires that "tractor-trailers should be equipped with lane departure alarm function and forward collision warning function". The implementation of this regulation means that safety equipment has been added for truck driving, which fully demonstrates that the state attaches great importance to the road safety of commercial vehicles, and the active safety of vehicles is gradually aligned with the high standard of safety, reliability and intelligence.

According to the latest statistics, commercial vehicle ownership for motor vehicle ownership of 7.8%, but is one of the more frequent road traffic accidents transport; in terms of the number of deaths in traffic accidents, the number of deaths in truck accidents up to 22%. As a logistics country, the installation of dual warning systems for lane departure warning (LDW) and forward collision warning (FCW) on trucks is not only a matter of policy, but also a matter of practicality.  

LDW and FCW

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) through image data processing to identify the lane tracking, when the vehicle unconsciously deviates from the lane, the system will issue sound and light warnings, so as to avoid vehicle deviation from the lane derailment. Vehicle Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is mainly used to judge the distance, bearing and relative speed between the vehicle and the vehicle in front through the distance monitoring of the obstacles in front, and warn the driver when there is a potential collision danger. It is worth mentioning that the vehicle forward collision warning system needs to be matched with the depth of the vehicle control system, and the system installation is completed before the vehicle leaves the factory for higher safety.

FCW

FCW, as one of the main modules of the intelligent transport system, inputs the environmental information around the vehicle through sensors into the corresponding system module for judgement, and gives early warning to the driver or provides emergency protection. In this process, positioning, radar, vision and other sensors collaborate and fuse to be able to input the collected environmental data in the form of images, point clouds, etc., and through the algorithm's extraction, processing and fusion, to further form a complete map of the front vehicle's driving situation, providing a basis for driving behaviour decision-making.

Currently, the sensor solutions applied to FCW include LiDAR, millimetre wave radar, camera, ultrasonic sensors and so on. Compared with other sensors, "ultrasonic radar + camera" is a low-cost solution with better warning effect. Ultrasonic radar general weather resistance range is -40 ℃ ~ +85 ℃, can withstand most of the bad weather, and the camera long-distance image recognition to form a functional complementary advantages.

When the vehicle is moving, the ultrasonic sensors continuously measure, and when the relative position of the vehicle and the obstacle in front of it is less than the set safety distance, the vehicle control system makes judgement based on the actual distance detected by the sensors, and sends out an alarm to remind the driver to slow down the brakes.
